Prestige: the most expensive dog breeds in the world
Narrated from: Dog BreedsDogs don’t grow on trees, you know.
On the other hand, many dogs grow up on the street – so if you wish to find a household pet, usually all it takes is a walk in the neighborhood.
However, if you are looking for a specific breed, quite often you have to pay a considerable sum of money to a reputable dog breeder, and there are some dog breeds that would cost you quite a pretty penny, especially if you are looking for a pure blood line!
So, which are the most expensive dog breeds in the world?
Bichon Frise - the members of this cute breed make excellent show dogs. They are quite small, but a pup could cost you more than $400!
Komodor – trustworthy guardian dogs of Hungarian origin. The trademark of the breed is its white coat. A Komodor puppy would cost no less than $400 to $500!
Akita Inu – these dogs are a national symbol of Japan. Very elegant, protective and intelligent – you would be getting no less than a former Imperial guard! However, a pup from the original Japanese bloodline (there is also an American sub-breed) costs about $500 to $00, and more.
Bearded Collie – a cousin to Lassie, originally used by Scottish shepherds. An enduring, loyal companion – with a price tag of $700 to $800.
Staffordshire Terrier – one of the traditional English “old-time” breeds. Bred for dog-fights, these dogs are naturally very fond of humans, but don’t expect them to be friendly towards other dogs. A Staffordshire terrier puppy would cost $1000 to $1300.
Maltese – one of the cutest dogs in the toy group. An excellent companion and an all-time favorite of women. A Maltese puppy is sold for no less than $1500 to $2500.
Pharaoh Hound – this is the national dog of Malta. Pharaoh Hounds are true nobles, combining elegant features with fearless protectiveness. One of the oldest breeds in the world; these dogs cost $2000 to $3000.
Yorkshire Terrier – a beautiful dog, and a pleasant companion. The “Yorkie” is quite the small guy, but a pup could cost $4000 to $7000!
Rottweiler – the famous German breed was once known as the “Rottweil butcher’s dog”, since these dogs were used for pulling meat-carts to the markets. Today, Rottweilers are often employed as police dogs or to act as guide dogs for blind people. A purebred puppy costs $10 000 to $15 000!
Tibetan Mastiff –Here comes the winner! The Tibetan Mastiff, one of the oldest breeds in the world, is fashionable all over the world, especially in China. The price tag is estimated at about $35,000, but it is difficult to be sure about the exact price – not long ago a Tibetan Mastiff puppy was sold for over 1.5 million dollars, thus becoming the most expensive dog in the world!
